Major League Experience Is Coming to The Nest IN NEWMARKET
We’re incredibly excited to welcome former Major League catcher George Kottaras to The Nest in Newmarket this fall and winter!
George grew up right here in the GTA, attending Milliken Mills High School in Markham before being drafted by the San Diego Padres. He went on to play seven seasons in Major League Baseball with the Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays.
Now, after years of playing and learning the game at the highest level, George is bringing that experience back home to work with the next generation of baseball players.
This fall and winter, George will be leading three weekly clinics at The Nest, giving local players the opportunity to learn directly from someone who has experienced the game at its highest level.

THURSDAY NIGHTS
6:00–7:00 PM | Fundamentals | Ages 6–12
A great program for young players looking to build a strong foundation in baseball. Players will be grouped by age and skill level and work on throwing, hitting, fielding and the fundamentals of the game.
7:00–8:00 PM | Pro Hitting | Ages 10+
Take your hitting to the next level with instruction focused on mechanics, approach, adjustments and learning how to become a better, more confident hitter.
8:00–9:00 PM | Pro Catching | Ages 10+
Learn the catching position from someone who actually played it in the Major Leagues. George will work with catchers on receiving, blocking, throwing, footwork, game management and the many details that go into playing the position at a high level.
We’re keeping these groups small so players get plenty of repetitions, individual instruction and time working directly with George and our instructors.
Whether your child is just getting started or is already playing at a high level, this is an incredible opportunity to learn from someone who has spent years studying and playing the game at the highest level.
And maybe the coolest part is that is that George was once a young baseball player in the GTA with the same big dreams as so many of the kids walking into The Nest today.
Now he gets to come back home and help the next generation of players develop their skills, build confidence and see just how far baseball can take them.
