What Makes Field of Dreams Baseball Camp Different

People often ask me what makes Field of Dreams Baseball Camp different from other baseball camps. The answer is multi-layered, but at its heart, it comes down to one thing: I personally have created the camp experience. Let me elaborate:

Many baseball camps are run by former players who bring their skill and experience to the table, but they haven’t necessarily spent their lives in camp environments. I have. For over 24 years, I’ve worked in a variety of camps: sports camps, baseball camps, science camps, and even camps for children with special needs. Each experience has been incredibly rewarding and has taught me so much about how to create an environment where kids feel seen, included, and empowered. All of those lessons go directly into every Field of Dreams camp.

I know what it’s like to be a camper, too. I remember the amazing counsellors who made me feel welcome, cared for, and confident. Who inspired me to grow and step into leadership myself. Later, I became a counsellor in training, then a Baseball Specialist, and eventually the Programming Director at the largest sports camp in the City of Vaughan. Each step of that journey shaped how I design our programs and the culture of our camps today.

Of course, my camps also benefit from my high-level playing and coaching experience. I played competitive baseball for 14 years and have spent 15 years coaching at a high level. That expertise informs our program planning and ensures that every camper is improving their skills, whether they’ve never picked up a bat before or are already playing at an elite level.

But here’s what truly sets Field of Dreams apart: our camps aren’t just about baseball skills. While improving is a key part of every camper’s experience, we are a summer camp first, a day camp that specializes in baseball. We build fun, connection, and magic into every day. Our campers experience cheers, inside jokes, music, themed days, special events, and activities that are designed to be wild, wacky, and full of energy. It’s about creating lifelong memories and friendships, not just better hitters and fielders.

Another thing that makes our baseball camp unique is that it is owned, operated, and fully designed by me, a woman in an industry dominated by men. I bring a perspective that is often missing in baseball and baseball camps. I bring the perspective of a mom. I hire staff I would trust with my own son. I create the culture I would want my child to experience. That perspective shapes everything, from how we support campers and encourage confidence, to the types of activities we plan, and the overall environment we cultivate.

But beyond all of that, there is one thing that matters most, and it’s something you can’t always put into bullet points or programming outlines: we truly care. This isn’t just a business to me. It’s not just a job or a pay cheque. I genuinely care about every single child and family who is part of our program. I care about how each camper feels when they arrive in the morning, who they eat lunch with, whether they feel confident stepping onto the field, and the smile they leave with at the end of the day.

That same level of care extends across our entire team. My husband, our leadership staff, and every counsellor we hire are chosen not just for their skills, but for their ability to connect, support, and show up for kids in.

Because at the end of the day, Field of Dreams is far more than a baseball camp! We change lives, build confidence, and create opportunities for kids to grow as athletes and as people. Every element of our camp is intentional, from skill development to fun, from community to culture. Our goal is for campers to leave with improved baseball skills, stronger confidence, and, memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

That is what makes Field of Dreams Baseball Camp truly different. And that is why we can’t wait to welcome your camper to the diamond.
