PRO PITCHING CLINIC
Train with a Pro. Train Like a Pro.
For more than 10 years, Field of Dreams has been developing pitchers and continually evolving our pitching program.
Over the years, we’ve worked with NCAA pitchers, professional players and elite coaches, learning what works, adapting our approach and making the program better every season.
This year, we’ve taken that experience and revamped our program to provide an even more personalized, comprehensive and high-level pitching experience. With smaller groups, more individual attention and a team of instructors with NCAA, professional and elite coaching experience, our goal is simple: develop better, more complete pitchers.
LEARN FROM THE BEST. BUILD ON EXPERIENCE.
For more than 10 years, Field of Dreams has been fortunate to have high-level players and instructors help shape and develop our pitchers. As our program has evolved, we’ve continued to learn from the people who have played and coached the game at the highest levels.
We’re excited to build on that foundation with former Major League catcher George Kottaras, who will play a major role in our pitching program.
During his MLB career, George had a front-row seat to pitching at the highest level in the world. As a catcher, his job went far beyond receiving the baseball. He worked alongside pitchers on preparation, mechanics, pitch selection, sequencing, game planning, execution and making adjustments throughout games.
Throughout his career, George caught and worked with some of baseball’s most accomplished pitchers, including Jon Lester, Tim Wakefield, Josh Beckett, Zack Greinke, John Smoltz, Jake Peavy and Bartolo Colon, among many others.
He also had the opportunity to learn from Major League pitching coaches and see firsthand how the best pitchers in the world prepare, compete and take care of their bodies.
That experience brings a unique perspective to our program and gives our athletes another opportunity to learn what it takes to prepare, compete and perform at the highest levels of the game.
We don’t just want our athletes to learn how to throw. We want them to learn how to pitch.
DEVELOPING THE PITCHER AS A WHOLE.
Throwing harder is important, but velocity is only one part of becoming a successful pitcher.
Our program is designed to develop pitchers who are athletic, efficient, healthy, intelligent and confident on the mound.
Players will work on:
- Safe and effective velocity development
- Efficient pitching mechanics
- Athleticism and using the body efficiently
- Arm strength, arm care and recovery
- Command and consistently hitting spots
- Fastball development
- Changeups and age-appropriate breaking pitches
- Pitch sequencing and strategy
- Pitching IQ and understanding game situations
- Mental preparation and confidence
- Strength, mobility and pitching-specific movement
- Competing with confidence and becoming a force on the mound
Our goal is to help each player understand how their body works, why adjustments matter and how to use those tools to become a better pitcher.
A MORE PERSONALIZED APPROACH
One of the biggest changes to this year’s program is the emphasis on individual attention.
Players will train in smaller groups and rotate through focused stations, giving our instructors significantly more opportunities to work one-on-one with each athlete.
Sessions will include professional-style warm-ups and arm preparation using arm bands, shoulder tubes and arm-strength exercises before progressing into mechanics, throwing and pitching-specific work.
Players will work on their individual needs while receiving consistent feedback and instruction throughout the session.
Each workout will conclude with proper cool-down, arm care, recovery and strength and conditioning.
INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT AND DEVELOPMENT REPORT
Every pitcher begins the 10-week program with a personalized assessment evaluating their mechanics, movement patterns, pitching ability and areas for development.
Throughout the program, our instructors use that assessment to help guide each player’s training and track their progress.
At the end of the 10 weeks, every athlete receives a personalized development report outlining their improvement, areas to continue working on and recommended next steps.
The goal is to give every player a clear roadmap for continued development — both with Field of Dreams and on their own.
MORE THAN A PITCHING CLINIC
At Field of Dreams, “Pro” means more than professional playing experience.
It represents the standard we hold ourselves to in our instruction, preparation, coaching and the experience we provide to every athlete.
We want players to leave the program throwing with more confidence, moving more efficiently, understanding the game at a higher level and knowing exactly what they need to continue working on.
If you want to be a pro, learn from the pros.
Come ready to work. Leave a better pitcher.
