2020 Summer Camp Announcement

Dear Camp Families,

I hope you are all doing well, and that everyone is staying healthy and safe.

The summer of 2020 was supposed to be a special one for us in celebration of our 10-year anniversary. Since the end of last summer, we have been working hard to plan the upcoming season to make it the best one yet. So, it is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel our regular 2020 summer camp at Field of Dreams. This decision was not made lightly. We spent a lot of time exploring all avenues to run camp this summer, but we made this choice so that we can continue to prioritize the safety of our campers, staff, and the community at large. Based on the most updated COVID-19 provincial guidelines for camp, Field of Dreams is structured in a way that cannot be delivered in line with these requirements. We need to make this sacrifice so that we can ensure that Field of Dreams Baseball Camp can continue to provide another 10+ years of life changing camp experiences after this passes. Once we return to the field in 2021, we will be stronger and better than ever.

We are going to replace our summer camp with a modified summer program which we are aiming to start in the second or third week of July. As an alternative to regular camp, (where we would have 60+ campers and staff on the field at a time, in very close proximity to one another), we are going to run some weekly small-group, social distancing baseball clinics, and private Backyard Programs. Similar to camp, we would run each small group clinic or Backyard Baseball Program as a week-long session, focusing on skill-development. Each clinic would be 90 minutes per day, and Backyard Program 2 hours per day, with social distancing and many new health and safety protocols in place. We are waiting to hear from the city for permits regarding our small group clinics, but the Backyard Programs will be available starting in early July. Registration will be very limited for both programs and will fill up quickly. For more information on our Summer Day Clinics and Backyard Baseball Programs please click here

I think of all the exciting plans that were made for this summer, and although it is painful to not have our regular camp, it is a reminder of how lucky I am to have such an incredible FOD community that makes our camp so special. I wish you all good health during this challenging time, and remember we are not stuck at home, we are safe at home!

Stay safe,

Jennifer Stitt
